“The Memories Remain Intact”

The “Killer Rat” has been authorized to revive the original Hot Spot Magazine that lasted a couple of episodes before being absorbed by our website.  While the website has seen its ups and downs over the years, it has also seen a revival.  Currently, there is the Official Hot Spot Website found at www.thehotspotcafe.com  and our underground magazine “The Scream” has been revived at www.killerrat.com and will include all the whacky reviews that brought infamy and notoriety to our website worldwide!

Today, June 20th, 2023, the world has changed considerably since the days of the inception of The Hot Spot.  We started our minuscule operation on a balmy late summer night in 1995, from a house on the corner of Street 60 in Islamabad’s F 6/3.  Even though The Hot Spot operated for less than a year from home, it will forever be the place it all began.  A million memories are attached to the house that sadly has since been demolished, and nothing appears to have replaced it.  There was nothing to see walking around outside the abandoned plot, but I noticed the gate still standing.  The driveway is all undergrowth, but I can imagine the wall where the Blackboard used to be hanging from and the door where the bell would ring for orders.  Where my puppies were born and the room upstairs where our mad rituals and jousts with the ice cream bucket took place.

Unsurprisingly a security guard from the adjacent house walked up, wondering why I was taking such an interest in a seemingly abandoned plot.  He smiled when I told him I lived in the house that once stood here, and there are many associations with this little patch of land.

I had never been back to this house since we moved out, and The Hot Spot got an outlet the following year.  I remember feeling sad when informed about the old house we lived in being demolished some years ago.  Time passed, and the assumption was that a new place would have replaced it, but I was surprised to find that this was not the case, and it lay forgotten and abandoned.  I managed to take some snaps today, and some of you may have memories of The Hot Spot in its first avatar in 1995/6 at the home that is no more in F 6/3.
